How you can turn my car insurance affiliate lead gen disaster into your success.

This was one of my first niches, and when I was starting out as an auto insurance affiliate marketer, I made a lot of mistakes. It was painful. It took years for me to get my head around what I did wrong, and how to make it right.

Do I think that doing things the hard way made me stronger? Yes.

Do I wish that I had known what I was doing faster, so I didn’t waste so much time and money? Double yes.

The point is, why should you have to go through the same hell in order to become a profitable affiliate publisher in the auto insurance niche? So, here is a quick roadmap of things you need to get right on your own journey to success.

Get the right hosting

This is a simple self-own to avoid. Don’t fall for cheap companies that offer you a great package for dollars a month. There’s a reason it’s cheap. The traffic will suck and it will take you that much longer to build a good link profile from it.

In addition, your site load speed will suck and frustrate your site visitors. Get the better package and get ahead of your competition.

Don’t forget the other channels

Most people will have a website set up, with maybe a WordPress blog. But that isn’t enough. You need to drive traffic and get people to engage. Social media is a great way to do this, and you should definitely create a Facebook page and maybe use Instagram or Twitter, too.

But don’t forget email. A killer email marketing program can be much more proactive in bringing through customers. Offer discounts, life hacks and money saving tips, keep them informed on what they need to know as canny consumers and boost your connection to them as a human being with a great campaign.

Don’t hide the goalposts

I’d set up my blog, created a ton of valuable content, and made sure my site was super fast. But the clicks weren’t coming. What was going on?

It took a second pair of eyes run over my website to show me the painful truth: nobody could find where to sign up. I’d hidden the key forms away, several clicks deep. Instead of having an opt-in lead gen form on every page, in several locations with clear instructions, I had committed the sin of making them THINK.

Needless to say, don’t do that, ever.

Get a flexible solution

At least you’ve chosen a profitable niche. Auto insurance is one of the more expensive purchases an American will make in their life. And since the US has a love affair with the automobile, it is almost guaranteed that every adult will research the car insurance market at some point in their life.

Trying to focus on cheap car insurance sounds like a win, after all, everybody wants to save money, right? This was my reasoning. I only focused on low-cost buyers and got bitten by their problems. There had to be a better way.
